Code, defined As Poetry?

Code is Poetry.

Those words have been mocking me for well over a week now from the (add your cuss word of choice)… Wordpress help site. Every page turn, every seek and destroy mission, has been met with those taunting words on the screen. ~~~Code is Poetry~~~

In my humble opinion, some wise ass programmer added those illustrious words to a help site to taunt the individuals that don’t know their //:o( –!php/B.S., from two sticks on the ground surrounded by shredded newspaper. I would assume that if someone comes crawling to a help site, more then likely they are in ‘error hell’ and experiencing an Internet crisis. A person in panic can’t embrace mutual appreciation or opinion, that “code is poetry”.

I would also venture, based on sheer volume visits, I’m an authority on help sites and this topic (now). So I will speak for the mere humans, us people. We the people, who need help that is, think code was created to toy with a persons rational thought process, patience and mental stability. Meaning, it can reduce the most civilized and patient person into a rabid swearing psycho. Doubts? Just ask my family………..

Oh, for the love of all things Google. I shouldn’t just blame Wordpress. I’ve just come to abhor the expression, “Code is Poetry”.

Over the last week, it’s been all about setting up 4…yes four..different websites. Three for work, and a new personal one. Despite my infantile abilities, I decided, or perhaps, arrogantly thought, I could handle it. At this point in time, I think my ambition far exceeded my capabilities. The time it takes to look foreign geek squad words up in google, then cross reference them between help sites, to piece together one sentence of advice in a thread that may, or may not even fix the error…..oh, and I can’t neglect to mention resorting to YouTube in the most dire of moments. Play, pause, go to website, play, rewind, pause, back to website….repeat 20 times.

I can now claim that I have crawled around in the bowels of computer coded swamps, and survived. (So did my websites) I can also claim that now that I’ve been to hell and back, I’ve got it down, no problem. I could do it again and again in 1/3 the time it took this last week. Woot.Woot. Me
I should say Thank You I suppose. To the help sites of Wordpress, 1&1, Wise FTP, Google, Yahoo, Youtube, Aweber, and all the other random sites I crawled through. You’ve all helped me test my patience to the far extreme and I didn’t punch my computer, commit murder or even leave any nasty comments anywhere.

Code is poetry. Ha.

Code is poetry is just a pseudo-intellectual taunt. It reminds me of an unbathed rich kid dressed in all black designer clothes holding an organic apple(with Twizzlers hiding in his pocket-natch)while he pages through his favorite(read:only) Communist pamphlet and says: All is nothing and nothing is the universe and..blah blah blah blah, cough,(that's from the organic pot) blah.

Wouldn't it be much worse to have your capabilities exceed your ambition? ~Mary

Arghhh..code...you're much more adventurous than I am!

I've always thought that poetry was code - although code for what, I've not necessarity been able to decipher.

When either of us is sitting here at the table working on computer junk, and it's not going well...oh my. As the saying goes, "Do you kiss your mother with that mouth?"

It can be nerve racking when the software karma reaches up an bites us in the arse :o)

Ohhhh code. I get quite frustrated dealing with stuff like that, so I admire you!

I am currently considering the leap to my own website..... There are some things I am experimenting with that might benefit from a little exposure on the web, or at least a place I could send people to look at them. I've been dreading taking the step because I will probably be trying to do it on my own. I know just enought HTML and CSS to be dangerous. Sigh!

Go YOU for pulling it off and doing it well!!

Haha.. I'm glad you got it done though. I can get aggravated myself with all the technical crap that goes on around me but I couldnt live without it!!

I'm a bit of a computer moron myself. I don't know how to do anything much on here and anything that I manage to get done is only by accident. I sometimes even amaze myself.

I prefer to say "Poetry is code" and I would like to add " Poetry is code once resolved it would open the mind, the heart, and the eyes".

I dub you Rebecca Code Warrior! Atta girl!!!

Ooops....I came here because I thought you were writing about "co-ed poetry". I thought it was going to be about poems about Girlz Gone Wild and poems that start off "There was once a young coed from Nantucket"

There, feel better now? Smiling at least?

I love poetry but not all poetry is lovable. HTML is definitely not loveable. Every time that I think that I have mastered writing code, I realize that it's the master and I'm a slave to it. Ha indeed! Thank goodness you survived...

Now I know I'm not attempting my own website anytime soon. But, I wouldn't mind going back to school and learning how first, or even take a course on poetry. Or physics. I've wanted to re-take physics, with more serious intent, for decades now. The chaos theory is almost like poetry within God's handiwork, in some fashions........... lol.

Challenge can be good, since you mastered it:) I'm just not interested enough in my own website, yet, so am thankful for your warning of the difficulty involved.

Well! You've more of a grasp on the e-world than ever I'd want or need, but then again I'm an old flower child, "virtual" to me means "almost truly" lol. Codes - now there's another more fascinating angle to encryption: the Mayans, the Phoenician Egyptians, the Babylonians, all the ancients left encoded messages in their heiro and petro - glyphs. When I first studied the Enigma machine I was hooked on encryption but that was long before e-land was born. Enjoying "provocation" btw. You certainly have a gift for all this.
