A GiveAway and Away

Ok. Ok. If I'm ever going to achieve world domination, I've resigned to the fact I'll have to crawl out from my nice cozy little rock and socialize more. Despite my growling, whining and protesting a few entries down, I've been coerced into going public-ish. Blog, Facebook, Twitter. Domain Name complete with programmer to geek me up. I've even figured out how to put the little buttons for those places in my sidebar here. One small technical victory. Go Me.

Next stop, the White House where I'm sure President Obama will assign me chief something writer. Since my friend Marc already called dibs on being his personal friend, I'll have to settle for second hand information via Marc, but that's ok, I'll be out from under my rock.

Since I'm rolling uphill on the super technology highway, I'm upgrading my cell phone as well. This seems to be a pressing matter. I will no longer be known as the "last remaining human without a picture phone and the second to the last person without Internet capabilities" (a friend accused me of that stone age implication)

In this complete makeover (I should be featured on Oprah's makeover edition) , I abandoned AOL since they are no longer of use to me (journal deleting bastards) so for those of you that occasionally email me, my new handle is: (I know, I know, but it has to be better then Justaname4me2 and all it's creative originality)

All of this may not lead to world domination and thats ok as long as I can maintain that status in a certain room. But it's am ambitious thought.

And lastly.

I like to give things away. Specifically. I like to send things in the mail. I won't call this a contest per say, but there's a book I frequently read, and I scribble in it my own thoughts, and then I always give it away. A few people online have already received this book from me complete with scribbles...."The Prophet" by Kahlil Gibran. So yes, I'm giving away something 'used' and defaced, but I believe there is still value to be had.........

I buy the book.
Then read it and write in it.
And then give it away.
And buy another.

I'm done with my current book and want to send it out to someone. Being that I'm on my way to world domination, I'll be diplomatic. Names in a hat from the comments (don't let that make you shy now) on this entry get auto entry. Drawing on Friday. Just be prepared if you get drawn to hand over address, mothers maiden name, social security number and bank account numbers (I need to bankroll my world domination aspirations).

Now, comment.
Go forth, prosper.
Find me on Twitter and Facebook cause supposedly thats what the cool people are doing.

23 Additional Thoughts:

I'm abandoning the internet for a few days...and it looks like I'm the last hold out to not give in to the allure of Facebook and Twitter. IN any event, I'm lost in that dark center of me. Seeing as I've been lucky enough to already be a recipent of one of your books, I'll leave the lottery for another lucky reader. Catch you in a few days my friend. (Hugs)Indigo

oooh! pick me! -jumps up and down-

I need a new book to read!
and I have added you to twitter, yay! I'm so excited you're coming out of the dark ages to play! ;)

Consider me in the running. I've never read The Prophet, and it would certainly be interesting to get your take on it while reading!

Although I've embraced my blogginess, and have come to enjoy Facebook a lot (I find it an excellent supplement to my blog), I'm not a cell phone kinda gal, so don't feel bad. I have one, but rarely use it, and I'll soon be switching over to a pre-paid one. I rarely talk on the phone here at home...why would I want to while out and about?

If you achieve world domination, I hope you'll remember your blogger friends. ;)

Don't pick me :-). I'm reading 6 books at once and I never do that....but they are all so ...counterculture personality(who doesn't want to read more about Ira Einhorn. Ok, maybe lots of people). I dislike facebook and myspace. Twitter is too ADD for me. No picture cell. No microwave, toaster or tv.....I digress.
Your moods and energy levels are constantly shifting(I'm guessing). I like that. ~Mary

Jeez, I registered last week at Facebook and still haven't done anything there...
And I(big and italicized)am the last remaining human on the face of the earth without a picture phone-mine has to last a couple more months-at least till its 3rd birthday!
Have fun with your new techno-life(could this be the new catchphrase?). Everyone tells me it's so easy.....

You know I'm on facebook, but I'm not a twit...erer. Still, there's something to be said for the occasional tweet...or something.

Yes, please.

You don't know me at all but that prize sounds fascinating. Marginalia from a stranger? What could be better?

I am not in the running for your book...but sounds interesting..
I do love your sense of humor and your thoughts and writings.

Ahhhhh...The Prophet by Kahil Gibran? What a wonderful book. A copy is in the "keeper" section of my bookshelf.

What a wonderful idea. Do you think giving away props would work? Would love not paying for that dang storage space.

Love reading your words. Yea, Rebecca is back! We miss you when you aren't here, ya know.

I'm so glad you are posting again, I've missed you! I'd love to be put in the running for the book - it sounds right up my alley. Maybe if I win it, I will write in the margins and "Auction" it off in my journal. Have a great week. ~~Kath~~

LOL... glad you haven't abandoned US :) I'll have to e-mail you a test e-mail just b/c I don't know how else to add you to my e-mail address book. Um, seriously.

As for the book -- great idea to recycle them by passing them along, with the additional notations from you. I love it. I should do that. (Ha, I have a movie to return that I've had almost a month now. At least I know where it is.)

You have learned a touch about some of us -- perhaps if you feel that your current book selection could touch the soul (or be useful) to one of your commentors, then that is who it should go to?

And, yes, I'm glad you're back, too:)

BTW, my boyfriend left his phone in Europe, so got a replacement for way too much money, without a camera. On purpose. (Admittedly, he wouldn't use it.) I'm closing in on just what twitter IS. :) You're ahead of a lot of us!

I got the ART book so don't dare choose me...You have gone above and beyond, etcetera, etcetera.
Well I'm grateful for the internet. No hiding under the bushel, Lightlady.

OH! How on earth did I miss this entry? I'm glad you let me know you have this going on and what a great idea Rebecca! Man oh man I wish I had your creative genius. hehe

You deff know I want to be in the drawing. I want an inside look into your thoughts. I always find what people write in books is so much more interesting then what the book is about hehe.

I have your new e-mail address copied. *HUGS*

Just thought I would let you know maybe I peaked in. Sorry for that but sometimes when you are lucky enough to get a taste you tend to have a hard time leaving the table...

Rebecca Anne ~ Thanks for swinging by my blog & dropping a note... I have to get better at doing that, myself. But oh, where to find the time?!?!

As for technology, I'm a junkie-wannabe. =P I love facebook because it allows me to keep in touch with my friends & family who're far away. Without a humongous phone bill. (yeah, what can I say? I'm cheap) I even do video Skype so my parents can actually see my kid, instead of just hearing him. But twitter, MySpace, & all that jazz, eh. I picked one, & I'm good with one. Don't have time for playing in every sandbox in the playground, y'know?

February 06, 2009 10:38 AM

Can I be in? Is it too late? Send me stuff (that doesn't explode. I just had the windows cleaned, and, well, you know how it is).

In other news, just wait until you start fiddling with ringtones. I picture you as either a Men Without Hats "Safety Dance" or Men at Work "Who Can it Be Now" sort of ringtone fan. It must be a guy thing.

I love technology until it malfunctions, then I rant and rave about why I have all these gadgets in the first place.

World domination is always so interesting in the movies. Have you ever noticed how the power mad master of the universe wannabe always has plans to blow something up? I think that youo are a much more benign dominatrix. Okay, I just wanted to use the word dominatrix. I'm perverse.

I love this book giving thing with a qoute or something said in the front...Send a mailing address if you decide you would like to be on the receiving end of this lovely game...Alas I am addicted to it

February 06, 2009 8:35 PM

I have a facebook account and you know what it is boring! There is nothing to it it just is not as nice as blogger where you can find out about people!

February 07, 2009 1:00 AM

Ah Chica... You ALWAYS fill me with DEEP DEEP admiration...and intense self-loathing...hehehe. We are on the same path(s), you and I...only, you're marching on and I'm still a'schlepping. ;) LOVVVE seeing your observations and ruminations (HUGELY validates so much of me, thank you). FB? REALLY??? Where's the button? Can't wait to see you there, too. ;) C.

February 07, 2009 9:40 AM

Quite sure I'm late...(as usual King Friday, as my mother would say) but I'd still be interested in hearing how you liked this book. I thought about reading it, but wasn't sure whether I'd be into it. As for the facebook, twitter, techno stuff, I'm not sure what all the hype is really about. Maybe I'm too much of a youngish dinosauer??? lol
